Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-05-28
By installing and using the PolyTube extension, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the extension.
1. The service
PolyTube is a browser extension that translates and displays YouTube captions in real time using an LLM provider you configure. The extension is provided free of charge and is in active development (MVP).
2. API keys and third-party costs
PolyTube follows a bring-your-own-key model. You are solely responsible for your API key, usage limits, and any costs charged by the LLM provider you choose. PolyTube charges nothing and does not intermediate payments.
3. Acceptable use
- You are responsible for complying with YouTube's Terms of Service and your LLM provider's terms.
- Do not use the extension for unlawful purposes, copyright infringement, or to violate third-party rights.
- Do not abuse, reverse-engineer, or harmfully interfere with the extension.
4. Intellectual property
Original captions and video content belong to their respective owners. PolyTube only displays translations for your personal viewing; you are responsible for how you use or redistribute translations and exported files (SRT/TXT).
5. Disclaimer of warranty
The extension is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. Translation quality depends on the LLM provider you choose and may contain errors. We do not warrant that the extension will be available, accurate, or uninterrupted.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the PolyTube maintainers are not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from use of the extension, including API costs, data loss, or translation inaccuracies.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms over time. Updates take effect when published. Continued use of the extension after an update means you accept the new terms.
